Working with the Federal government, she specialized in developing innovative systems from the point of concept through nationwide implementation in IT security and financial management for both mainframe and distributed platforms. Jenifer also was among the first to design and implement internet/intranet capabilities for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Jenifer's repeated successes earned her national recognition and numerous awards, among them the Federal IT Best Practice Award from the Center of Excellence for Information Technology, Government IT Services Board. In 2001, Ms. Floyd established Floyd Thomas, LLC to bring technology solutions to state and local government agencies, representing select IT hardware manufacturers and software publishers. Since 2003, Ms. Floyd has organized what has now become a large, annual networking event for state and local government IT customers and IT vendors -- the Tee IT Up Texas Government IT Customer Appreciation Golf Tournament. Ms. Floyd has been active in the Austin community with Seton Forum, Austin Habitat for Humanity, Laguna Gloria Art Museum (now Museum of Modern Art) and other charitable and non-profit organizations. After serving as Regional Director for Women in Technology International, she co-founded the non-profit Association for Women in Technology--Austin in 2002 and remains active on the Advisory Board of Directors. Ms. Floyd co-founded the non-profit Texas Association of Historically Underutilized Businesses in 2003 and served until 2006 when she stepped down as Vice-Chair. A graduate of St. Edward's University, Jenifer is also a member of the first graduating class of Austin's Civil Defense Battalion, Homeland Security unit in 2002 and was certified with the Austin Police Department's Search and Rescue Team in 2003. Ms. Floyd was a guest panelist at the Austin Business Journal's 7th Annual Profiles in Power seminar, and has co-chaired the LSGS Women of Distinction annual luncheon. |
